Reflection on the ECR China Studies Workshop: Studying China in Uncertain Times
We were glad to host the ECR China Studies Workshop: Studying China in Uncertain Times on June 12th at The University of Sheffield — bringing together early career researchers across the social sciences & humanities for an afternoon of dialogue, reflection, and connection.
From rethinking “China” as a concept, to navigating methodological challenges, to imagining future collaboration—this space wasn’t about polished answers, but shared questions, mutual support, and new ideas.
A huge thank you to all our brilliant participants for your openness, energy, and generosity. You made the space shine! And special thanks to our amazing keynote speakers Dr Linda Westman & Prof Gu Zhonghua for their thoughtful and inspiring contributions.
We look forward to continuing the conversation and building a more inclusive, connected ECR China Studies community.
